Michael Buble: ‘I’m a different person after watching my son battle cancer’

Michael Buble is a “different” person after watching his son successfully battle cancer.

The 43-year-old’s son Noah was diagnosed with liver cancer two years ago, aged just three. While he is now in remission, after receiving treatment including chemotherapy, the health struggle has had a dramatic effect on Michael.

“Listen, I am different,” he told People magazine. “You don’t go through big things in your life, dramatic things like I’ve gone through or my wife has gone through without it having an effect on you.”

Michael and wife Luisana Lopilato moved to California from Canada to be with their son as he received the care he needed. The singer cancelled all his engagements, but insists “everyone understood in my world what my priority was”.

The pair’s extended families also relocated to Los Angeles while Noah was treated, and Michael has credited his nearest and dearest for supporting him at such a devastating time.

“We all go through things. You just hope you learn something about yourself and you learn something about the people with you,” he mused. “Obviously everything can be super stressful, but I got some superheroes in my life.”

Michael is now looking to the future with Luisana, Noah, younger son Elias and daughter Vida, who they welcomed back in July (18). And of his plans for the coming years, the Feeling Good crooner smiled: “I don’t think I feel very nervous for anything anymore. The perspective that I have on life now allows me to understand that I don’t have to sweat the small stuff.

“I want there to be a purity, and I want there to be a focus on relationships and kindness. I’m spending my time doing things I love and with people I love, for people I love.”
