Michael Hutchence’s sister condemns INXS biopic

Michael Hutchence’s half-sister has condemned a new TV biopic about the late star and his band Inxs as a “complete fabrication”. The singer’s story is told in an Australian two-part mini-series INXS: Never Tear Us Apart, which stars actor Luke Arnold in the lead role.
However, Hutchence’s half-sister Tina has now spoken out to criticise the show after it aired Down Under last week (ends16Feb14), branding it a “soap opera”.
She tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, “(I am) angry and sad for Michael, because… it’s a complete fabrication of our family… Michael is the only Australian so far who has become a bona fide rock star on the international stage as far as I know, and I really think they really owed it to the Australian public, who let’s face it, supported them on the pub circuit on the way up, to give a true account of the INXS rise and fall. I mean they certainly owe it to Michael and his family and friends to do better than that soap opera.”
The news comes after the band scored its first number one album in Australia in 24 years following the programme’s broadcast.
The Very Best compilation marked their first chart-topper since 1990’s X.
