Michael Jackson fans win damages in French court

Five European Michael Jackson fans have been awarded one euro ($1.37/£0.86) each for the “emotional damage” they suffered after the King of Pop’s death in 2009. In total, 34 fans sued Jackson’s doctor Conrad Murray, who was convicted in 2011 for the involuntary manslaughter of the singer, but only five members of the French-based Michael Jackson Community fan club were able to actually prove emotional suffering in an Orleans court.
The damages were symbolic and the claimants will not be seeking to claim their one euros from Murray, who was released from jail last year (13).
However, the five fans are hoping the ruling will help them gain access to Michael Jackson’s grave in Los Angeles, which is closed to the public.
