Michael Le Vell pleads not guilty to child sex charges

British actor Michael Le Vell pleaded not guilty to a series of child sex charges during a court appearance on Friday (17May13). Le Vell, who has played a mechanic in hit U.K. soap opera Coronation Street for 30 years, entered formal pleas to 19 charges at a brief hearing at Manchester Crown Court in England. He has been ordered to stand trial in September (13).
The offences, including rape, indecent assault, and sexual activity with a child, are alleged to have taken place between 2001 and 2010.
Le Vell, real name Michael Turner, has been removed from Coronation Street until the conclusion of the case.
