Formula One legend Michael Schumacher hit his head on a rock after falling 34 feet (10 metres) down a mountain, investigators have revealed. The 45-year-old German has been in a coma in a Grenoble hospital since December (13), following a skiing accident in the French Alps.
French investigators have now revealed Schumacher skied into a boulder partially hidden by snow and lost control. The impact tossed him down an off-piste slope and onto a rock, which caused his life-threatening injuries.
Investigators have ruled out any criminal wrongdoing at the ski resort.
