Miss Piggy TV pitch description up for auction

A handwritten description of an early incarnation of Miss Piggy by Muppets creator Jim Henson has gone up for auction online. In the note, penned for his first TV pitch in London in 1974, the master puppeteer calls the character Piggy Lee “delicate and lovely”, while her cigar-smoking partner Hamilton Pigg is branded the “epitome of grossness”.
Two Polaroid photos of Miss Piggy and Hamilton Pigg were also attached to the sheet, which has a minimum bid of $20,000 (£12,500).
The Nate D. Sanders sale went live on Tuesday (24Jun14) and ends on Thursday (26Jun14).
The presentation was successful and Henson went on to debut Miss Piggy on a TV special with musician Herb Alpert in October, 1974. The segment was such a hit with viewers, The Muppets landed their own TV show less than two years later.
