Tom Cruise will perform a number of death-defying stunts in Mission: Impossible 6.

The actor is currently shooting the sixth installment of the action franchise, where he is reprising his role of agile spy Ethan Hunt.

Though Cruise recently turned 55, film director Christopher McQuarrie has promised that fans can expect the star to deliver when it comes to thrilling sequences.

Asked whether Cruise has done “the stunt” yet by a Twitter user over the weekend (08-09Jul17), McQuarrie responded, “Who said there’s just one?” In a second tweet to another fan, he teased that Cruise had filmed “some” of the difficult stunts.

The Mission: Impossible films have built up a reputation for including seriously impressive details, such as 2011 instalment Ghost Protocol, which saw the actor climb to the top of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa building, and 2015’s Rogue Nation, where moviegoers saw Cruise strapped to an airplane during take-off.

Set photos previously posted have indicated that some car chase scenes were shot in Paris, France, while on Sunday, McQuarrie and Cruise both tweeted that filming had wrapped up in New Zealand.

“Kia Ora (be well), New Zealand. Thanks to everyone there who helped us achieve the Impossible,” the moviemaker wrote alongside a snap of Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames with a mountainous landscape in the background. He added: “Leave a light on, London. We’re coming home.”

Mission: Impossible 6 will also see Michelle Monaghan, Alec Baldwin and Sean Harris reprise their roles, while Henry Cavill, Vanessa Kirby and Angela Bassett join the franchise. However, specific plot details are being kept closely guarded by executives at Paramount Pictures.

The film is slated to hit theaters on 27 July next year (18).
