Mollie King lands permanent show slot on Radio 1

Mollie King has celebrated getting a “proper job” after being given a permanent show slot on Radio 1.
The Saturdays singer has been appearing as a guest presenter alongside Matt Edmondson at the weekends recently, but impressed bosses so much that she’s been invited to be a permanent fixture on the station. The pair’s show will now also air on Fridays between 1pm and 4pm.

“I’ve grown up listening to Radio 1 and I can’t wait to be one of the team,” Mollie said. “This is an absolute dream for me! The only person more excited than me is my mum – who is delighted I finally have a proper job.

“I’ve had so much fun working with Matt over the past few weeks, and I’m so glad I’m no longer just ‘Mollie from the Saturdays’ but ‘Mollie from the Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays’.”

Alongside a picture of herself holding a glass of champagne, she wrote: “I’m SO excited to announce I’m officially a Radio 1 presenter! From June you’ll be able to tune in to ‘Matt and Mollie’ every week on Friday, Saturday AND Sunday! I literally can’t wait!! Dreams do come true guys, go out there and get them!! @MattEdmondson @BBCR1.”
