Molly Meldrum backs Chrissy Amphlett memorial petition

Australian music mogul Molly Meldrum has backed a campaign to persuade officials in Melbourne to name a road after late singer Chrissy Amphlett. The former Divinyls frontwoman passed away in April (13) at the age of 53 after a battle with multiple sclerosis and breast cancer, and fans are now fighting to have her remembered with a permanent memorial.
A petition has been launched on Change.org in a bid to convince officials in Melbourne to name a road after the star, and Meldrum has now called for more people to sign the form.
He says, “It would be a fitting tribute. We’ve already got an AC/DC Lane in Melbourne and Chrissy was another act who learnt the ropes playing in the Melbourne music scene. Chrissy was an amazing artist, coming from Geelong and spending her early days in Melbourne. She opened so many doors for other female performers here and around the world with the huge success of the Divinyls. It would be nice to honour that in Melbourne.”
