Hamm injured his hand while shooting the hit series, in which he stars as advertising executive Don Draper opposite Moss, who plays his feisty secretary, Peggy Olson.
And he reveals Moss got her revenge for her character’s bad treatment – by squeezing his broken hand.
He recalls, “I broke my hand in an accident on set one day so they put it in a removable cast so that it’s not seen on camera. We had to do a scene where I promote Peggy to copywriter and I shake her hand.
“I whispered to her, ‘Lizzie, my hand hurts like hell, so don’t put any pressure on – just pretend to shake it.’
“When we came to it, she forgot – she grabbed my hand and didn’t let go. I was almost brought to my knees with the pain. She said, ‘Oh, I thought you were just joking.’ I know she didn’t mean to do it, but it was as if Peggy the downtrodden secretary was getting her own back for the arrogant way I’d treated her.”
