Movie bosses wanted to recast Rami Malek’s character in Night at the Museum

Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek has Ben Stiller to thank for his first film role in Night At The Museum, because movie bosses hated his portrayal of a Pharaoh.
They were looking to recast the role of ancient Egyptian Ahkmenrah in the 2006 movie, but Stiller stood by his man.
Rami, who is convinced he only got the role in the first place because of his Egyptian roots, he tells WENN, “Fox was a little concerned about my interpretation and were looking to recast. Maybe I’d been watching a little too much of Pirates of the Caribbean!
“Fortunately Stiller had some faith in me and pushed for me to stay.”
And Malek, who reteamed with some of the Fox bosses who hated his portrayal of Ahkmenrah for Bohemian Rhapsody, admits he has one very special memory from the shoot: “We shot it in New York at the Museum of Natural History and at one point we had to go outside in the snow.
“It was me and (Mizuo Peck’s character) Sacajawea and Ben Stiller, who played the night guard, and Robin Williams. We were freezing and told to improvise so we looted the lost and found. I had a big puffy jacket with snow boots that had rainbows on them with this coal eyeliner which I could not get off.”
