Mozart and Beethoven’s hair for sale

Locks of hair from famed composers MOZART and BEETHOVEN are expected to fetch more than $16,000 (£10,000) when they are auctioned in London this week (beg25May15).
Tiny strands from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which date back to 1791, were kept by his widow in a gilt locket which was eventually passed to acquaintances.
It is expected to sell for $16,000 at the Sotheby’s auction.
A lock of Ludwig van Beethoven’s hair is also on sale, along with an official invitation to the composer’s funeral in 1827, and together they are predicted to fetch $3,200 (£2,000).
The auction will take place on Thursday (28May15).
