Mystikal Dethrones Madonna

The Queen of Music has been dethroned, at least for the time being.

After debuting at the top spot on The Billboard 200 albums chart last week, Madonna‘s “Music” dropped to No. 3 this week, displaced by debuts from rapper Mystikal and boy band 98 Degrees.

And over on The Hot 100 singles chart, Madonna found herself displaced again — after spending four weeks at No. 1 with “Music.”

Mystikal’s “Let’s Get Ready” took the No. 1 spot on The Billboard 200 with 331,000 units sold its first week out. “Revelation,” the third disc from 98 Degrees, bowed in with sales of 276,000.

“Music” fell nearly 50% from its first week, landing in third with 212,000 copies sold.

Two other rappers debuted in this week’s Top 10 on the albums chart: Shyne’s self-titled disc moved 160,000 units to debut at No. 5, and Lil’ Bow Wow’s “Beware of the Dog” landed at No. 8 with 101,000 units sold.

Christina Aguilera scored her third No. 1 single of the year when “Come on Over Baby (All I Want Is You)” leapfrogged from No. 11 to No. 1 on The Hot 100, pushing Madonna‘s “Music” from the throne after a four-week reign.

Also notable on the singles chart: ‘N Sync’s “This I Promise You” was the fastest-growing track in airplay and raced from No. 31 to No. 19; and the Backstreet Boys’ “Shape of My Heart,” the first single from their forthcoming CD “Black and Blue,” was the week’s top debut, bowing in at No. 38.
