Natalie PortmanApology from Broad City Stars for Making Fun of ‘Garden State’

Natalie Portman has become new friends with Broad City comediennes Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer after they apologized for ridiculing the actress’ movie Garden State on their hit show.

Jacobson and Glazer are known for frequently mocking the New Jersey-set 2004 comedy/drama on Broad City, in which they portray two young women struggling to make ends meet in New York City.

Portman previously gushed about the TV series during an appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2015, when she admitted she loved the show, despite their constant criticisms of Garden State making her feel a little “insecure” about her earlier work.

Now the Black Swan star has revealed she and Jacobson and Glazer have since met up and “hung out”, after they reached out to apologize for taking aim at the film people love to hate.

“They’re really good friends with my second cousin, and they e-mailed me,” Natalie tells Vulture. “They were like, ‘We’re so sorry. We love you. It’s just a joke.’ And I’m like, ‘I get it, I love you, too.’ And we’ve hung out.”

The Oscar winner even spent one New Year’s Eve with Jacobson.

“We’re not like, best friends, but she happened to be in Paris on New Year’s and was like, ‘What are you doing during this time?'” recalled Natalie, who splits her time between Los Angeles and her husband Benjamin Millepied’s native France.

She also revealed Jacobson proved to be more of a nerd than she portrays on Broad City, much to the actress’ delight.

“I was like, ‘Wow, you’re dorkier than I thought,'” smiled Natalie.
