Neil Young & Crazy Horse cancel Israeli concert due to political unrest

Neil Young & Crazy Horse have cancelled their upcoming concert in Israel due to political unrest in the country. The rockers were scheduled to perform in Hayarkon Park in Tel Aviv on Thursday (17Jul14), but have decided to axe the show because of the security risk.
A spokesperson for Young says, “It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we must cancel our one and only Israeli concert due to tensions which have rendered the event unsafe at this time. We’ll miss the opportunity to play for our fans and look forward to playing in Israel and Palestine in peace.”
The representative adds, “(Young) will be making donations to both the Louise Tillie Alpert Youth Music Centre of Israel, and Heartbeat, two organizations that teach music to Palestinian and Israeli youth simultaneously by enabling them to play music together.”
Tensions between Israeli and Palestinian military forces have risen in recent weeks following the killing of three abducted Israeli teenagers and a Palestinian youth in the disputed West Bank territory, prompting them to launch missile strikes against one another.
