Network bosses order 90 new episodes of Charlie Sheen’s sitcom hit

The show, in which Sheen plays an anger management counsellor, debuted on FX in June (12) and became an immediate hit, setting a ratings record as the most-watched scripted comedy series premiere in cable history.

The cast and crew have now been rewarded with 90 new shows in the next two years.

FX executive vice president Chuck Saftler says, “Charlie Sheen and the entire cast did an amazing job in the first 10 episodes, which were produced in a very tight window. I have no doubt that the producers and cast will be able to pull off the Herculean task of producing 90 episodes over the next two years.”

Production on the second season of the show – Sheen’s first since he was fired from Two and a Half Men – is scheduled to begin next month (24Sep12) and the star couldn’t be more delighted.

In a tweet to fans, he writes, “Boom! Anger goes the distance-90 more! Thanks to the fans, (creator) Bruce (Helford), the writers, producers & crew! TeamSheen!!”
