Nia Vardalos’ adoption book helps place 1,000 kids in happy homes

My Big Fat Greek Wedding star Nia Vardalos is celebrating the success of her adoption guide because it has helped home kids.
The actress released Instant Mom about her experiences as an adoptive mother in 2013, and the book not only sold well, but it encouraged parents to take a leap of faith and adopt.
“We just found out that the book has placed 1,000 people in permanent homes,” she told Access Hollywood Live on Tuesday morning (12Apr16).
But, aside from the success of the book, Nia reveals she has also become a big part of the adoption community.
“I found so much love…,” she said. “I found people who turned to adoption as the first option. And, for me, it just opened up my heart.”
And Vardalos admits she might adopt again: “I’m open to it; the phone could ring at any time.”
