‘Buffy’ Actor Nicholas Brendon Arrested for Alleged Domestic Violence

Troubled actor Nicholas Brendon was arrested earlier this month (Oct17) on allegations of domestic violence.

The former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star was arrested on 11 October in Palm Springs, California after allegedly pulling an unnamed woman, thought to be his girlfriend, by her arm and her hair during an argument at the bar at the Saguaro Hotel, Sgt. William Hutchinson of the Palm Springs Police Department told Entertainment Tonight.

He was arrested on charges of domestic violence and violating a protective order after a hotel employee called the police, and he was released on a $50,000 bail bond on 12 October. He is scheduled to appear in court on 28 November.

Police sources have told ET that the woman has two other protective orders against Brendon in both New York and Florida. The orders apparently allow the 46-year-old actor to be near her, but prohibit him from threatening, harassing, injuring or assaulting her.

Brendon, who has a history of substance abuse, has been arrested a number of times before – including four times in 2015 alone. In September 2015, he was arrested in New York for attacking a woman in a hotel room and was charged with felony third-degree robbery, criminal mischief and obstruction of breathing.

He later pleaded guilty to one count of criminal mischief and was given a conditional discharge, which meant he could avoid jail if he completed drug and alcohol counselling and stayed out of trouble for one year.

Brendon appeared on chat show Dr. Phil twice that year to discuss his arrests and issues with depression and addiction, and checked himself into rehab for 90 days.

He was snapped drinking alcohol at a comic convention in Iowa in May 2016 and admitted in a statement he had slipped up.

“This is completely true,” he wrote. “I was feeling down, went to the hotel bar and ordered a few beers. I’m in the public eye, but I’m just like any person working the program.

“It’s minute by minute, day by day, and I’ve unfortunately stumbled. I’m very happy to say that nothing like the events of last year (2015) have occurred, and I am committed to making sure that they never do again.”
