Nicky Jam to star in new series about his rise to fame

Latin pop star Nicky Jam is getting the TV biopic treatment for a new series.
El Ganador (The Winner) will chronicle the hitmaker’s life from his humble beginnings in Boston, Massachusetts to his troubled teen years after moving to his father’s native Puerto Rico, where he began abusing drugs. The Telemundo network series will also chronicle his career revamp and emergence as one of the most promising new artists on the Latin music scene.
According to Variety, Jam will star in the project, which will be directed by Jesse Terrero.
Jam, who made his acting debut in action movie xXx: Return of Xander Cage, will also serve as a producer, alongside his manager Juan Diego Medina.
Telemundo executives are also working on a new biographical series about the life of veteran musician Jose Jose, titled Nace un Idolo (An Idol Is Born), which will explore how he became a Mexican legend, and what achieving his dreams of fame and fortune cost him.
Air dates for the two new projects have yet to be set.
Telemundo bosses previously scored ratings hits with similar series about the lives of Juan Gabriel and Celia Cruz.
