Nicole Kidman’s Agents Setting Up Sexual Harassment Defense Fund

The top agents behind stars like Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman are funding a new sexual harassment victims’ fund with cash from their cancelled Golden Globes party.

CAA bosses annually celebrate the Globes with a pre-party, but next year’s (18) bash has been scrapped and all costs will help establish a legal defense fund for women seeking justice, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The initiative will honor the agency’s newly-nominated clients, like Streep, Kidman, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, Jessica Chastain, Reese Witherspoon, and Margot Robbie.

CAA agents and executives have been dragged into Hollywood’s ongoing wave of harassment and misconduct allegations, sparked by an expose on disgraced Harvey Weinstein, after they were accused of being part of the movie mogul’s “complicity machine”.

Responding to a Los Angeles Times article, which suggested multiple CAA agents had been told about the producer’s behavior toward women over the years but did nothing about it and continued to arrange private meetings for him, a spokesman for agency wrote: “We want to make clear to clients and colleagues that even one of our clients being harassed over the company’s 42 years is one too many.

“We apologize to any person the agency let down for not meeting the high expectations we place on ourselves, as individuals and as a company.”
