Nirvana’s first drummer not eligible for Hall of Fame honour

Nirvana’s first drummer Chad Channing has discovered he won’t be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame alongside former bandmate Krist Novoselic – by text. Channing has been talking about next month’s (Apr14) induction honour in recent interviews, but he has been advised that he won’t be honoured in New York.
A representative for the Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio sent a text to Nirvana’s manager on Monday (17Mar14), clearing up the confusion. He wrote: “Can you tell whoever looks after Chad Channing that he isn’t being inducted… It is just Dave (Grohl), Krist and Kurt (Cobain).”
Channing pre-dated Grohl as Nirvana’s drummer, and appeared on the band’s Bleach album.
The drummer recently told that he was looking forward to the induction: “I’ll be there at the table ready to walk up. When I told my daughter about the induction, she was super excited for me! So much of my excitement about it is for her!”
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on 10 April (14) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where Peter Gabriel, KISS and Hall & Oates will be added to the museum, alongside Nirvana.
