Rapace was a star in her own country but achieved international success when she was cast in the Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in 2009.
She has since broken into Hollywood movies, including Ridley Scott’s highly-anticipated Prometheus, but was reluctant to make the move Stateside.
It was only after her manager Shelley Browning convinced Rapace that her own idols all live in Tinseltown that she started to consider setting up home in the city.
She tells The New York Times Magazine, “I thought L.A. was more about celebrities and red carpets and glossy big lips and big t**s. I said to Shelley when we met, ‘I don’t want to go to Hollywood. That’s not for me. I want to do real movies.’
“And then she said, ‘But who do you actually like?’ I started to mention people, and she said, ‘Those people actually live in LA’.”
