Nyqvist is Cruise’s new Mission: Impossible rival

Nyqvist, who won acclaim for his role as journalist Mikael Blomkvist in Swedish thriller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, will battle Cruise in director Brad Bird’s Mission: Impossible 4, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cruise last faced-off against Philip Seymour Hoffman in the franchise, for 2006 blockbuster Mission: Impossible III.

Nyqvist joins an all-star cast for the follow-up, including returning stars Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg, and new faces Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton and Russian actor Vladimir Mashkov.

M:I 4 is scheduled to start shooting in Canada, Dubai and the Czech Republic later this year (10).
