Octavia Spencer even more keen on adoption after Instant Family

Actress Octavia Spencer is eyeing a future as an adoptive mother after working on new movie Instant Family.
The Help star had been considering the idea for some time, but claims researching the topic further for the family comedy, based on writer/director Sean Anders’ own experience, gave her the push she needed to make a firm decision.
“I literally had been on the fence about whether or not I wanted to open my home to kids (for foster care adoption) and it was like, there was this divine message being brought forth from this project,” she told U.S. breakfast show Today. “So I literally knew the moment that I read it (the script) that I wanted to do it.”
Octavia features in Instant Family as a social worker who helps to guide parents-to-be Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne through the foster care process after they agree to adopt three older kids, and the personal aspect of the subject matter brought all of the cast and crew members together onset.
“It was my favourite job that I’ve done,” the Oscar winner smiled. “It was one of those experiences that you really hope you can match (on other gigs).”
Wahlberg added, “You’re making a movie about something that’s far more important than what you are trying to accomplish, so everybody was there to service his (Anders’) vision, and it just became much more of a family (on set).”
And although the main story line is inspired by Anders’ own journey to parenthood, aspects of Wahlberg’s home life also made it into the script after working with the writer/director on the Daddy’s Home franchise.
“Sean took a lot of things that were happening to me on Daddy’s Home 2,” the father-of-four previously admitted on Today. “Like, I would get a phone call from my wife, she would want me to referee a fight that her and my daughter were having. I was supposed to be saying something (to them), but then nobody would listen to me, so I’d just be listening to the fight!
“All those things ended up in the script (for Instant Family).”
