Oliver Stone: ‘Storm is a reminder to politicians from Mother Nature’

The Natural Born Killers director insists it’s no coincidence Hurricane Sandy hit just before the presidential election and he urges President Barack Obama and his Republican rival Mitt Romney to take environmental issues seriously as they prepare to go head to head for leadership of the U.S.

He tells The Huffington Post, “I was a little disappointed at the third (presidential) debate (between Obama and Romney) when neither of them talked about climate control and the nature of the situation on earth.

“I think there’s a kind of a weird statement coming right after it. This is a punishment. Mother Nature cannot be ignored. That’s all I thought about. The storm will pass. The campaign will pass. But unfortunately the nature of this present world situation will not.”
