Olivia Newton-John heading to Las Vegas for concert residency

Australian singer/actress Olivia Newton-John has become the latest star to sign up for a 2014 residency in Las Vegas. The veteran entertainer has landed a 45-show Summer Nights run at the Donny and Marie Showroom at the The Flamingo hotel and casino.
The dates will kick off in April (14) and serve as a career retrospective for the 65 year old, who will perform classics from hit movie musical Grease and romantic fantasy Xanadu, as well as tunes from her chart career.
Announcing the news on U.S. breakfast show Today on Tuesday (04Feb14), she said, “I’m really, really excited, I’m going to be doing my first Las Vegas residency at The Flamingo hotel starting in April, so I’m really excited.
“I’m gonna be in Donny and Marie’s showroom I really love the old style showroom, very intimate. I’ll be performing various weeks throughout the year starting on April 8. And I’m really excited because The Flamingo very generously offered to give a portion of every ticket sold to my cancer wellness centre. (It’s) very special.
“I’ll be taking you (fans) on a musical journey through my life, through music, through my career. I’ll do my songs from Grease and Xanadu and my country music and some of my healing music material and some of my favourite oldies; it’s a journey through my life.”
Newton-John joins a long list of Las Vegas show stars – Shania Twain, Britney Spears and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have all recently launched residencies in the party city, while Sir Elton John and Celine Dion are also among the big name regulars on the Strip.
