Olivia Newton-John’s husband started growing marijuana to help relieve the singer/actress’ pain as she battled breast cancer.

The Grease star had to postpone a string of concert dates in May (17) as she struggled with severe back pain she initially thought was sciatica, but doctors subsequently discovered it was a symptom of breast cancer, which had returned 25 years after she first fought and overcame the disease.

Olivia soon began a course of radiation therapy and other natural treatments, and last month (Aug17), she told fans she was “feeling great” as she returned to the stage.

The 68-year-old recently admitted she came to rely on medicinal cannabis to pull her through the worst of her latest health crisis after she found herself struggling to walk, and in a candid new interview with Australian news show 60 Minutes, she reveals her husband, John Easterling, was the one providing her with the drug.

“It is not hard to get,” she said. “He grew cannabis for me and made tinctures (liquid remedies) for me to take for pain and inflammation and so many other things that cannabis can do.

“It really is a magical miracle plant.”

The star still has some way to go on her road to recovery, but she is grateful to be back on her feet.
“I can walk, but I can’t go long distances,” Olivia explained. “But I’ll get there, because I couldn’t walk at all a month or so ago. As I heal I’ll be able to walk more.”

However, the ever-optimistic entertainer acknowledges cancer is something she will likely “deal with the rest of my life”, adding, “But… I’ll be fine and there have been a lot of women, who have had reoccurrences, and continue on with their lives to be old ladies. That’s my vision.”
