Olly Murs isn’t concerned by rumors speculating that his role on The Voice has angered his former The X Factor boss Simon Cowell.
The 33-year-old singer came second on Simon’s U.K. TV talent show The X Factor in 2009, losing out to eventual winner Joe McElderry. He went on to present The Xtra Factor spin-off show with co-host Caroline Flack, and later the pair landed the hosting duties for The X Factor in 2015.
His role as a judge on The X Factor’s direct competitor The Voice was revealed last October (17), with rumors that his appointment had left Simon fuming.
However, during an interview on Good Morning Britain on Thursday (08Mar18), Olly admitted that even if Simon is annoyed with him – he’s not that bothered.
“I mean, I haven’t heard from Simon, I haven’t spoken to him but listen, I’m sure we’re great. I hope so anyway,” he said. “I think what people misinterpret is, when I came off X Factor I wasn’t still part of The X Factor. I went and had my own music career and Simon was never involved in that, really. He was involved at the start of it but yeah…
“Listen, The X Factor is The X Factor. It’s been a massive part of my life and I still love it. And I won’t stop watching it, but The Voice pay my wages now.”
