Om Puri: ‘Life at home is a misery’

Bollywood actor Om Puri has branded life in his native India a “misery” after his arrest over a domestic assault allegation. The East is East star was quizzed by cops last month (Aug13) after he was accused of assaulting his wife Nandita Puri during an argument over the maintenance of their Mumbai flat.
He was later released on $147 (£98) bail and jetted to France to shoot scenes on the new Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey production The Hundred-Foot Journey.
It has now emerged the actor has found a new friend in co-star Dame Helen Mirren, who he insists is helping him cope with his troubles.
Puri tells The Times of India, “I am far from the miseries of home and enjoying my stay here. I and Helen share a great rapport and that makes the shoot all the more enjoyable.”
