One Direction celebrate six years in music

One Direction thanked their fans as they celebrate six years in music.
The hashtag #6yearsof1D began trending on Saturday (23Jul16), a date that marked six years since Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik were put together to form the boyband on the U.K’s X Factor in 2010.
Louis posted a video in which he thanked the band’s millions of “incredible” fans on One Direction’s official Twitter account.
“I just wanted to film a little message to say thank you because you guys are incredible. Your continued support is remarkable, really, and every single one of you had a hand in changing our lives. I hope you’re as proud as we are,” he said.
He later tweeted, “Read so many amazing tweets from you guys! Thanks for sharing the memories with us… Here’s to many more.”
Harry, who has been absent from Twitter for the past month, broke his silence to thank fans personally. “Six years. I have no idea how to say thank you for all your support. For everything you are, and everything you’ve done, thank you,” he wrote.
Niall acknowledged the band’s fiercely loyal fans, and posted a touching tribute thanking them for their unwavering support. “6 years. wow ! As Louis touched in his message , each one of you have played in a part in changing lives,” he wrote. “You are the best fans in the world as you know… Thank you so much for everything so far.”
Liam posted a thank you to the One Directioners on Sunday (24Jul16), apologising for celebrating a day late. “Very late to the party but wow six years of us!! still so many more to come I’ve never been part of something so amazing,” he posted on Twitter.
The singer has had more good news to celebrate this week, as he announced he had signed a solo record deal with Capitol Records on Thursday (21Jul16). “One direction (sic) will always be my home and family but I’m very excited to see what this chapter brings,” he wrote.
Zayn, who left the band in March last year (15), did not comment on the six year anniversary. He released his first solo album, Mind of Mine, in March (16).
Harry, who is starring in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming World War II epic Dunkirk, also reportedly signed a solo record deal last month (Jun16).
