Orlando Bloom has admitted his sex scenes with Carnival Row co-star Cara Delevingne were a “little awkward” to film.
The Lord of the Rings actor, 42, and 27-year-old model play star-crossed lovers Rycroft Philostrate and Vignette Stonemoss, respectively, in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video fantasy series. And speaking to Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, the star confessed he finds taping more explicit scenes uncomfortable.
“It’s always a little awkward, honestly, there’s a lot of people standing around watching you pretending to have sex,” he shared, adding, it’s “the same rule for violence or whatever it may be.”
However, he insisted: “I don’t think it’s intentionally gratuitous, it leads into the fantasy genre of the show, it’s good.”
The actor added the show is a “great social commentary about refugees, race, sexuality and power abuse”.
Meanwhile, Cara was full of praise for her co-star, gushing: “He’s a brilliant actor and it was amazing to work with someone who had the same passion to make this stand out and be something different.”
Carnival Row premieres on August 30, 2019.
