Oscar Pistorius trial put on hold

Oscar Pistorius will have to wait another week to testify at his murder trial after the case was put on hold. The embattled South African Paralympian was due to take the stand on Friday (28Mar14) after 15 days of prosecution questioning into the shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his home in his native South Africa last year (13).
However, the trial has now been adjourned until 7 April (14) after one of the assessors assisting the judge fell ill.
The South African legal system does not use a jury, and two assessors help a judge reach a conclusion instead.
Pistorius, 27, is accused of intentionally shooting his model girlfriend through a bathroom door at his home in February last year (13). The sportsman insists he shot Steenkamp in error after mistaking her for an intruder.
He denies one charge of murder and three firearms offences.
