Paolo Nutini’s DUI trial begins in Scotland

Singer Paolo Nutini has denied a driving under the influence (DUI) charge in a Scottish court.
The New Shoes hitmaker was arrested in Paisley in February (17) after he was accused of drinking vodka in a local bar before getting behind the wheel of his Mini Cooper.
His trial began on Tuesday (27Jun17), with an eyewitness telling the court he saw Nutini order vodka in the bar before driving off. The singer stands accused of driving under the influence of alcohol while over twice the legal limit.
The witness, Colin Hay, told the court he called police after spotting Nutini behind the wheel of his car a little later, stating, “I had seen him drinking at the bar, having more than what would be the legal limit of one to two drinks. At first I was a bit thrown and continued my journey home, then I called the police to tell them what I had seen.”
But, in cross-examination, Hay admitted he could not confirm what the singer actually drank – only what he ordered, according to the BBC.
The trial continues.
