Passion Pit scrap same show twice over wet weather

Rockers Passion Pit were forced to scrap a concert in North Carolina for a second time on Tuesday (08Oct13) due to wet weather. The group was set to perform at the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater in Wilmington on Monday night (07Oct13) but the show was called off due to torrential rain.
They rescheduled for Tuesday, but after the weather failed to clear up, they axed the show again.
A statement from bosses at the venue reads, “After rain forced the postponement of Monday’s Passion Pit/The Joy Formidable show in Wilmington NC, an attempt was made to re-schedule the show for Tuesday. Unfortunately, the weather shows no signs of letting up, and the show has been cancelled. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.”
Meanwhile, the rockers have uploaded a lengthy message to fans on their site, explaining the reasons for scrapping shows and how seriously they take not being able to perform on tour.
The update adds, “We actually HAVE played in the rain before. Many times, actually. But the stages have been covered and we’ve compromised the show. The bottom line is that every day a band tours and doesn’t play a show, they haemorrhage money. This is a costly, tricky business, and all we want is for everything to go smoothly and to have fun. But tour doesn’t always work that way and we apologize for things that are completely out of our control.
“Please understand that if Passion Pit cancels a show, it’s cancelling a show for a damn serious reason, and we’re not messing around with our fans. We’re trying our hardest and we are so sorry for the inconvenience. There’s only so much we can do.”
