Patrick Dempsey no longer brewing up business with coffee chain Tully’s

Actor Patrick Dempsey has stepped down as the face of Seattle, Washington-based coffee company Tully’s after resolving a legal spat with his business partner. The Grey’s Anatomy star and California lawyer Michael Avenatti teamed up last year (12) to beat Starbucks bosses to the acquisition of Tully’s Coffee, which became available in October when owners TC Global Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Dempsey and Avenatti, who formed Global Baristas LLC to take over the company, celebrated victory earlier this year (13), but their business relationship has soured in recent months, and now the actor has walked away.
In a statement released on Friday (23Aug13), Dempsey said, “I am happy to have been a part of the effort that brought awareness to the Tully’s brand.”
He went on to wish “the Company and Michael all the best, adding, “I am happy that we have resolved our differences and have put this behind us.”
