Patti LaBelle: ‘I want to remember Prince as a wonderful person’

Singer Patti Labelle had no idea her friend Prince was struggling with opioid addiction.
The Purple Rain icon died of an accidental fentanyl overdose in April (16), but Patti, who has been close to the singer for several years, was not aware he was taking the drug.
In an episode of Watch What Happens Live! on Sunday (23Oct16), the 72-year-old recalled visiting Prince several years ago at his studio and explained she wants to remember the good times with the late singer.
“I recorded at his Paisley Park studio,” she said. “I went to his house and cooked for him. Cooked everything and you know what he ate, rolls, just bread. He would not eat real food.
“Then he took me to his disco, danced with me, then he took me to his tailor on (the) premises and made me, like, five outfits, fierce. I loved that baby… I remember him as wonderful. I will always remember him as wonderful.”
