Paul Cattermole ‘forced’ to date S Club 7 bandmate Hannah Spearritt

S Club 7 star Paul Cattermole has claimed his five year romance with bandmate Hannah Spearritt was originally invented for TV.
The pair began dating in 2001, and at the time their relationship was trailed as a secret romance, which was finally revealed in an episode of the British pop group’s TV show, Hollywood 7, a fictionalised version of their life as a band.
Although the 42-year-old and Hannah, 38, continued dating until 2006, three years after the band’s demise, Paul has now revealed that initially their love was concocted by TV producers.
Asked if they were forced into a relationship in an interview with The Guardian, he said: “Yeah, but like I say. It didn’t feel like that because I had totally grown into the idea, quite quickly. I thought she was great.”
However, he said that eventually they grew into the idea and began dating for real. Paul, who last year (18) tried to sell a BRIT Award he won with the group on eBay to pay off his debts, drew Hannah’s ire back in 2017 when he claimed she dumped him to pursue an acting career.
She wrote on Twitter: “Cringe. Someone’s broke again…. Hilarious! #tragic”.
In The Guardian interview, Paul also claimed the group were paid very little, despite four U.K. number ones and one U.S. top 10 hit, and that he wasn’t allowed to sing as it would damage the “alchemy” of the band.
