Paul Giamatti shooting detective show pilot

Paul Giamatti is heading to the small screen to play an unhinged homicide detective in 1980s Miami, Florida. The Sideways star will shoot a pilot for Hoke, the story of detective Hoke Moseley, the main character in Charles Willeford’s series of novels.
Production will begin next year (14) and if bosses at America’s FX network choose to take up a series, it would mark Giamatti’s first longterm leading role on TV.
FX programming president Eric Schrier says, “Charles Willeford is one of the most deeply respected writers of crime fiction and he created a wholly original and colorful lead character in Detective Hoke Mosely… and we are honored that Paul Giamatti will bring Hoke to life.”
Giamatti won acclaim for his 2008 miniseries John Adams, for which he won a Golden Globe. He has also starred in 30 Rock and will be seen in Downton Abbey later this year (13).
