Paul Rudd to star in new Ghostbusters movie

Paul Rudd has officially joined the cast of the new Ghostbusters movie.

The Ant-Man star revealed the news in a video he posted on social media on Thursday (June 27, 2019) as he stood in front of New York’s iconic Ghostbusters headquarters.

Filming fans posing for photos outside from across the street, Rudd revealed he “loved” the original movies, adding, “I’m a fan”, and then explaining his agent called director Jason Reitman and asked him “who you gonna call” to play “a semi-young, strapping man” in the new film, Ghostbusters 2020.

Reitman, whose dad Ivan directed the original Ghostbusters movie, told the agent that Rudd was at the top of his wish list.

The 50-year-old says, “I nearly slimed myself,” adding he “can’t wait” to get started on the latest film.

Carrie Coon, Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, and child actress Mckenna Grace are also in the running for roles, according to Variety.
