Paul Simon and wife appear in court

Police have cleared up reports Paul Simon and his wife Edie Brickell were arrested for disorderly conduct, explaining the couple was only issued misdemeanour summonses. The Simon & Garfunkel star and Brickell were reportedly detained by cops following an alleged bust-up at their home in New Canaan, Connecticut on Saturday night (26Apr14), but police chief Leon Krolikowski explains there were no arrests.
On Monday (28Apr14), Simon and Brickell briefly appeared in court and told Judge William Wenzel they did not feel threatened by each other.
Simon said, “Both of us are fine together. We’re going home together, and we’re going to watch our son play baseball. We had an argument which is atypical of us. Neither of us has any fear or any reason to feel threatened. I don’t feel like I need to be protected.”
Brickell added, “He’s no threat to me at all.”
Following the hearing, Brickell released a statement through her lawyer about the incident.
It read, “I got my feelings hurt and picked a fight with my husband. The police called it disorderly. Thank God it’s orderly now.”
Simon and his wife are scheduled to appear in court for a follow-up hearing on 16 May (14).
