Penny Lancaster ‘beaten until she bled’ by school bullies

Model Penny Lancaster was beaten until she bled by school bullies who targeted her because of her height.
Penny, who is married to rocker Rod Stewart, 74, and is six feet (1.83 metres) tall, revealed in an interview on British morning show Lorraine the bullying started on her first day at school. And she recalled how she was once followed home by “a boy on his bike ramming it into the back of my legs until they bled”.
And the 48-year-old, who shared she was “picked on” every day throughout her formative years, has now teamed up with non-profit The Diana Award, founded in memory of the late Princess Diana, to help both victims of bullying and bullies themselves get out of bad situations.
“(My mother told me) bullies are the ones you should try and feel sorry for… They tend to work in groups because they are weak,” the Loose Women panellist shared. “As well as the people being bullied (who) need help, the bullies need help too. They need to be taught and educated to the damage that bullying can do and to rectify why they might be behaving in that way.”
And while Penny confessed she found it “hard” to sympathise with her aggressors at school, she urged young people to stay strong and celebrate their differences.
“I got through it, I became successful. I think a lot of young people can do the same thing,” she insisted. “It’s important to be different. If we’re all the same, who is going to stand out, who is going to make their mark in life?”
