PETA Takes Aim at Rosie

Daytime gabber Rosie O’Donnell has talked her way right into a lawsuit.

The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals filed a defamation lawsuit Tuesday against O’Donnell for allegedly saying that the Gap sells leather approved by PETA, according to The Associated Press.

O’Donnell was referring to the clothing store chain’s decision to stop using Indian and Chinese leather products.

“There’s no such thing as PETA-approved leather,” said Lisa Lange, a PETA spokeswoman.

The animal rights group wants an on-air retraction and $350,000 in punitive damages.

Laura Mandel, a spokeswoman for the show, said she was unaware of the lawsuit and could not comment.
