Pete Doherty stuns cafe boss by devouring big breakfast in 20 minutes

British rocker Pete Doherty has become a legend at a cafe in Kent, England after tackling a famous breakfast platter – and scoffing the lot.
The Libertines star took a long-running challenge to complete an enormous fried breakfast, burger and chips at Cliftonville’s Dalby Cafe on Tuesday morning (21Aug18).
The hungry star ate everything in just under 20 minutes, becoming one of only “five or six” people who have managed the feast in that time, according to cafe owner Mark Ezekiel.
“The challenge has been going since 2004 and 15 or 16 people have managed to complete it in total,” he tells KentLive. “Only five or six have managed to complete it in 20 minutes.
“We get so many people who think they are going to eat it, we thought it was just going to be another case of that. He (Doherty) wolfed two thirds of it down in six or seven minutes. Usually, we get people who eat quite a lot of it at first but then they hit the wall and they can’t go on anymore.”
Pete got his breakfast for free and then posed for a photo of himself celebrating after the meal. The picture will be framed and added to the cafe’s gallery of breakfast heroes.
The Libertines have adopted Kent as their home after buying up a Margate hotel. The band has also sponsored Margate Football Club and Pete and his pals will curate a day at the nearby Wheels & Fins festival in Broadstairs next month (Sep18).
