Peter Billingsley (a.k.a. Ralphie Parker) to Produce ‘A Christmas Story’ Musical

ALT TEXTOh nostalgia, I love it when you sneak up on me on a random Wednesday.

One of my favorite holiday activities — along with probably every other child ever — was to spend those freezing ass cold December nights sitting in front of a fire, stuffing myself with Christmas cookies, drinking way too much Eggnog, and watching A Christmas Story on repeat. (Needless to say, my childhood was rough).

Anyway, here’s some awesome news: Peter Billingsley — better known as the adorable 9-year-old Ralphie Parker — told the Hollywood Reporter that he’s signed on to executive produce the musical adaptation of the film.

“A Christmas Story has always meant a lot to me personally,” he said. “I’m excited to bring this film to the stage because the story and the characters lend themselves so well to the world of musicals.”

The musical, entitled A Christmas Story: The Musical! begins its previews at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre on December 9 and runs through the 30th. THR reports that it will remain loyal to the film and book series that it was originally based on. Billingsley, who also produced The Break Up and Four Christmases and directed Couples Retreat, went on to share his excitement.

“I am honored to be a part of this project and look forward to bringing the play to more stages,” says Billingsley. “Just think about the idea of a leg-lamp kickline.”

I like it. Hopefully there is some hilarious “Fa Ra Ra”-ing along with the kickline.
