Playwright Michaels dies

Michaels passed away at his home in Connecticut on Friday (29Apr11) after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, reports the New York Times.

The star wrote three Tony Award-nominated plays during the 1960s – Tchin-Tchin, Ben Franklin in Paris, and Dylan, which featured veteran British actor Alec Guinness.

Michaels is survived by his longtime wife Louisette, sister Meryle Ober, and his children Cotter and Candia.
