Police investigate theft in Strictly Come Dancing backstage area

The British Metropolitan Police are currently investigating a theft in the backstage area of the hit U.K. show Strictly Come Dancing after items had reportedly gone missing from a dressing room on Saturday (16Nov13). Officers from Lancashire Police, England, were called to Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom after Jewellery, an iPad and a phone was allegedly stolen from a dressing room used by female contestants and dancers for the BBC dancing show.
A spokeswoman for the British Metropolitan Police tells the BBC, “We are investigating a theft that has occurred at the Tower Ballroom at Blackpool. It was reported to us at around 21:45 GMT that some items had been taken from a dressing room within the building, officers are investigating the theft and are making a number of enquiries to trace the person or people responsible.”
The police are not giving details on who the items belonged to but stars currently taking part in the contest, include, singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, TV host Susanna Reid, actors Mark Benton and Patrick Robinson.
The show is usually filmed at Elstree Studios, Hertfordshire but had travelled to Blackpool for a one off special in the famous ballroom.
