Pregnant Carrie Underwood was hospitalized in Germany for three days

Carrie Underwood cancelled two festival appearances in the U.K. last week (ends09Sep18) because she was hospitalized in Germany for three days.

The Before He Cheats singer was set to perform at The Long Road country music festival in Leicestershire, England and BBC Radio 2’s Live in Hyde Park in London last weekend, but officials from her record label Universal Music Group Nashville announced she had to pull out due to ill health.

Pregnant Carrie opened about her sickness for the first time on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night (13Sep18) and explained that she came down with a viral bug while in Germany.

“I don’t cancel shows, like I will drag myself out on stage to perform if I have the flu or whatever,” she said. “In the U.K. we had to cancel a couple of shows. Basically I got like a viral thing. And I woke up, I had vertigo and I could not stand up and it was crazy. I ended up in a German hospital for three days.”

The mom of one praised the “sweet and so nice” medical team who looked after her, and joked that she tried to learn some German so she could communicate with them better.

“I didn’t learn anything,” she admitted. “I learned one phrase, ‘kein fleisch bitte’ (which means) ‘no meat please’. I don’t eat meat. That’s all I got.”

The 35-year-old has recovered, but another one of her concerts has been cancelled – this time because of Hurricane Florence. Organised behind the Today Summer Concert Series in New York said they were scrapping her televised performance on Friday so they could focus on their coverage of the extreme weather.

Carrie is currently expecting her second child with husband Mike Fisher, and said they were “excited to add to the family” and their three-year-old son Isaiah has been “really sweet”, adding, “He’ll talk to my belly and kiss my belly.”
