The Broadway musical adaptation of Julia Roberts’ movie Pretty Woman will hit the stage next year (18).
Pretty Woman: The Musical will premiere at the Nederlander Theatre on 20 July (18), following a limited five-week run at Broadway In Chicago’s Oriental Theatre in March.
West End stage star Samantha Barks, who played Eponine in 2012’s movie musical Les Miserables, will take on Roberts‘ escort character Vivian Ward from the beloved 1990 Garry Marshall film, alongside Tony and Grammy Award winner Steve Kazee, who will portray Richard Gere’s billionaire Edward Lewis.
Pretty Woman: The Musical was co-written by the film’s screenwriter J.F. Lawton and director Marshall, who passed away in July (17), and will feature music and lyrics by rocker Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. Jerry Mitchell will direct and choreograph the much-anticipated production.
