Producer Sev Ohanian wins big deal and top award at Sundance for Search

Filmmaker Sev Ohanian’s thriller Search has turned him into a big double winner at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
Ohanian, who co-wrote and produced the film, has been handed the festival’s Producers Award for Narrative Feature, while netting the biggest deal so far.
Sony Pictures bosses snapped up the worldwide rights to his new film for $5 million (GBP3.6 million), according to Deadline.
Ohanian isn’t a stranger to Sundance – he was the producer behind 2013’s Fruitvale Station, which won acclaim at the festival and launched the careers of director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan.
The filmmaker returned with Andrew Bujalski’s Results and Clea Duvall’s The Intervention.
His ambitious new movie, which takes place entirely on computer screens, stars John Cho and Debra Messing.
