Protesters to greet mourners at Jeff Hanneman memorial

Friends and fans of late Slayer star Jeff Hanneman will have a few unwelcome guests waiting for them at his memorial service next week (23May13) as members of the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church have announced they will picket the Los Angeles event. Over 4,000 people are expected to attend the celebration of the bass player’s life at the Hollywood Palladium and they’ll be treated to a parody of Ozzy Osbourne’s Crazy Train, which will be performed by the WBC choir.
Church members have courted controversy in the past with their anti-gay and anti-God protests and have previously picketed outside funerals of U.S. soldiers and several concerts, targeting bands including Radiohead and Foo Fighters.
Hanneman died earlier this month (May13) of alcohol-related cirrhosis.
